The road can be tough on an artist and learning how to pass the downtime is important. Fortunately, the guys of Rascal Flatts have a few tricks up their sleeve to help keep things interesting.

The trio is back on the road these days in support of their album Back To Us. “We might go play a round of golf and sometimes we’ll go see a movie, you know if the weather is bad or something like that,” Jay DeMarcus says through the band’s record label. “We’re always finding something to do to pass the time. And you know the one thing about your band and crew is you have to be able to exist together and live in tight quarters, too. So we’re blessed to have some really, really great people that have been with us. A few of them have been there nearly from the beginning and they’re still there.”

Everyone doesn’t always do everything together, of course. “It’s funny because each one has their own kind of thing,” adds Gary LeVox. “So like one group will go see movies, the other group will go fishing or do something crazy. Like we … I forgot where we were at … [but] they went skydiving.”

“Rocky Mountain climbing,” Jay DeMarcus interjects, playfully riffing on that famous Tim McGraw Song. “And a couple of ’em rode 3.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Manchu!”

“It’s almost like a song,” Joe Don Rooney deadpans.

“Yours If You Want It”
