When I was a kid, my mom had a rule when we went into any place with breakable items:  hold my hand, stay by my side and don't you dare wonder off.

See, I was a "bull in a china shop" and she knew it.  And she knew she would never be able to afford whatever it is that I undoubtedly would break. ;)

That's why the story of a family who broke an 800-year-old coffin in a museum and then ran off struck such a chord with me.

You ever break something of value and then run off instead of facing the consequences?

Charlie Nance is the Afternoon Drive co-host (along with his wife) of "The Charlie and Debbie Show" at WSOC, Country 1037 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
