How much love can one young guy experience? If Brett Young‘s first three singles from his debut album are any indication, a lot. He’s just being honest, though.

“A lot of people, when they put their first record out, they want there to be like a common theme throughout from song to song,” Brett acknowledges in an interview released by his record label. “I wanted to do that as well, but not a theme from song to song so much as [a theme of] honesty … And so I wanted as much of this record as possible to be kind of an insight into who I am through the music.”

“In Case You Didn’t Know”

Brett’s debut project couldn’t be made up of all ballads, however. “It’s funny because you still have to fill holes in a record; you have to give them tempo, you have to give them ballads … so it’s just been an interesting balance of wanting to tell my story and also make sure that it’s a well-rounded record that works from top to bottom.”

“Sleep Without You”

Whatever the California-born heartthrob is doing, it’s working. His first two singles, “Sleep Without You” and “In Case You Didn’t Know” both went to No. 1. His third, “Like I Loved You” is currently climbing the charts. See a list of upcoming tour dates here.
