Jo Dee Messina’s team just shared heartbreaking news with her fans.

The country star’s website says she has been diagnosed with cancer. She is scheduled to begin treatment this fall.

In the statement, Messina’s team stated the singer has always been close with her fans and the team wanted to inform them of the diagnosis — before they heard it somewhere or from someone else.

At this point, it is not publicly known what type of cancer Messina has been diagnosed with, or what her treatment plan entails.

The country artist will perform on October 7, but will postpone all future performances until further notice.

We are sending prayers Messina’s way during this difficult time.
