Friday was a pretty bad day in country music.

We had just gone on the air at 3 when I got an email alert that Don Williams had died.  The Gentle Giant.  He was great, and songs like "Nobody But You" and Good Ol Boys Like Me" should be on any and every jukebox left in the world in perpetuity.

Then, a lot closer to home, I got a TMZ alert that Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry had passed away in a helicopter crash in New Jersey.

I don't know of anyone that has a bad story about Troy Gentry.  He was always a good hang, a good story teller, and someone you always looked forward to seeing when MG came to town.

Jake Owen tweeted out that he lost a hero and a friend on Friday.  That was a great way to put it.  And on Friday night, he took the stage and did a little Don Williams for the both of them.
