Several years ago, I stumbled across a show on A&E-set in modern day Absaroka County, Wyoming, but was like watching an old western.

"Longmire" is based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson. For the first 4-5 it was not just successful, but the most watched original program on A&E. However, the demographic make-up of the audience wasn't what the network wanted, so they canceled it.

Netlix to the rescue. This contemporary crime drama stars Australian actor Robert Taylor in the title role, the charismatic and dedicated sheriff who serves the county with bravery and a sense of humor, but deep inside he hides the pain of his wife's recent death.

The show is great. And after two seasons on Netflix, a third an final one has been shot and begins airing for binge on November 17.
