Now, more than 16 years removed from September 11, 2001, I continue to be amazed and awed by the heroism of our soldiers at that time-so much of which we are just now being told of.

“12 Strong” (also known as 12 Strong: The Declassified True Story of the Horse Soldiers) stars Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) and is based on Doug Stanton’s non-fiction book Horse Soldiers, about the CIA paramilitary officers and U.S. Special Forces sent to Afghanistan right after the September 11 attacks.

Apparently, following the September 11 attacks, Task Force Dagger, including CIA paramilitary officers and a US Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha 595 12 member team, were sent to Afghanistan. They joined forces with General Abdul Rashid Dostum of the Northern Alliance to help conduct unconventional warfare against Taliban forces.

This looks incredible…all the more so because it is true.

“12 Strong” is due out in 2018
