Rascal Flatts‘ Jay DeMarcus is a big time movie buff and he’s finally getting to exercise some creativity in that world.
The Ohio native will soon put on his producer/actor hat for a film based on a fascinating, if not terrifying, true American story. “The U.S. Air Force actually lost a nuclear bomb in the ’50s in Florida and they still haven’t found it,” Jay explains through the trio’s record label. “So it’s a story of these two kids [who] are on a journey looking for it and how they kind of come of age, and it’s a really good family film. Really excited to be a part of it.”
Say what? We lost a nuclear bomb? Apparently so. Jay is likely talking about a February 1958 crash between a USAF B-47, which was carrying the weapon, and an F-86 fighter plane. The bomb was jettisoned to protect the crew from a possibly detonation, so the story goes. The plane had been based at Homestead Air Base in Florida and the bomb was let go just off the coast of Georgia. It’s yet to be found.
The film is called All Shook Up and no release date has been set. As for Jay’s Rascal Flatts-related talents, rumors are the trio is planning a tour for 2018. Stay tuned.
