The first time I read A Wrinkle In Time I think I was in 3rd grade, and I can definitely assure you I had NO IDEA what I had just read.
The second time I got through it (as a class assignment), I was in 5th grade and fell in love with the Newberry Award winning book (one of the highest awards in children's literature) by Madelaine L'Engle about...well...the easiest way to say it is: a story of inter-dimensional time travel to save a girl's father.
