It was all high fives, bear hugs, and reply all Congrats emails flying around The New 103.7 office this morning after finding out that we were nominated for the CMA Major Market Station of the Year!
I can't quite put it into words how incredibly special this is and how we have you and the rest of The New 1037 family to thank for it.
Catherine said it extremely well, "I love these people! Congrats to everyone at The New 1037; people on the air and behind the scenes for our newly announced CMA Nomination for Major Market Station of the Year. It's truly an honor to work with each of them. and thank YOU for listening year after year and allowing us to be in your lives. Seriously, without YOU there would be no us."
So you know, CMA broadcast awards are judged by our very own peers. Each Summer, we submit an application that sums up what we've accomplished, including a year's worth of our best onair content and interviews condensed into 5 minutes, a summary of our community and charity events, a recap of the station's ratings, and biographies of our on-air staff. It's not easy work, especially when you know that highly respected and accomplished broadcasters and industry experts are determining whether you deserve to be nominated or not. To be recognized as a leading radio station in the country by our listeners and fellow industry peers is such an honor!
In addition to the BIGGEST THANK YOU IN THE WORLD to our country music loving listeners, I've got to give a special thank you to our hard working staff - Tanner, Catherine, Captain Jim, Chris Allen, Charlie, Debbie, Big Sexy, Rick, Chele, Stacey, Melanie, Bill, John, Jack, our badass digital team, sales team, and if I left out anyone else - you too! Everyone on our staff walks in the door every day with a big smile on their face and a fire in their chest to be the best station we can be - it's so incredibly inspiring to be surrounded by such amazing people.
Tanner wanted to add, "I think it's terrific to finally get recognized by the Canadian Music Association. Go Mounties!" (Insert eye roll here - typical Tanner!!)
Chris Allen was more nostalgic, "I want to thank my math teacher and the lady that fixed my flat tire. Wonderful women that inspired me not to be lazy."
We should know if we won the CMA for Major Market Station of the Year in late October. Cross your fingers and toes for us!
The 52nd Annual CMA Awards will be on November 14, 2018.
