No one hits it out of the park every time. Even the greatest of the greats strike out.

That being said, so far the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not had one dud. Not one of their pictures has been a finacial or fan failure. Even when they have gone to the obscure like "Guardians of the Galaxy," success has flowed.

And that's why I've got a bad feeling about "Captain Marvel."

First off, there's the name confusion. I love comic books and I've never heard of Marvel's "Captain Marvel." Now I'm very familiar with DC's "Captain Marvel," also known as "Shazam" (and his movie is coming out next spring as well).

And secondly (and related), this "Captain Marvel" is not only a lesser character in the catalogue, but a female. Now wait, before you call me sexist, I'd be all about a "Black Widow" movie. She's been established in the "Avengers" movies and I'm invested in her. It's the same thing about DC's "Wonder Woman." She's an established character (and a famous one), so I automatically would be intrigued to know more.

I hope I'm wrong-espcially since the word is that "Captain Marvel" will be the central character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward (replacing Robert Downey Jr.'s "Iron Man"). So, there's a lot riding on this.

It's just something tells me that the odds have to catch up to the MCU eventually. Anyway, here's the first trailer for "Captain Marvel" due in the late winter/early spring 2019.
