Recalls + Warnings for the Lime Electric Scooters

Heads up if you plan on jumping on a Lime Scooter anytime soon – you’ll want to take a good look at the brand. If it’s made by Okai, better pass on it.

LOS ANGELES, CA – AUGUST 13: A man and woman ride a shared dockless electric scooter along Venice Beach on August 13, 2018 in Los Angeles, California. Shared e-scooter startups Bird and Lime have rapidly expanded in the city. Some city residents complain the controversial e-scooters are dangerous for pedestrians and sometimes clog sidewalks. A Los Angeles Councilmember has proposed a ban on the scooters until regulations can be worked out. (Photo by Mario Tama/Getty Images)

Heads up if you plan on jumping on a Lime Scooter anytime soon - you'll want to take a good look at the brand. If it's made by Okai, better pass on it.

Lime is recalling all scooters in their fleet made by Okai due to them breaking apart.

According to the Charlotte Observer, "A recent study found uptown riders use e-scooters far more than the single-ride electric bikes that are available around town. City leaders in Charlotte allowed Lime and Bird to place 400 scooters each around the city in a pilot program in May."

According to the News & Observer, "After complaints about the safety of e-scooter riders in urban areas from around the country, Lime announced a new safety initiative and promised to distribute 250,000 free helmets, according to its site."
