The weather is getting cold, and it's time to break out the space heater - just make sure you don't plug it into a power strip.

Fire officials say plugging a space heater into a power strip or an extension cord can be a fire hazard.  The reason?  Power strips aren't designed to handle the energy output from a space heater, which can cause it to overheat and catch fire.

Instead, make sure to plug your space heater directly into the wall, and never leave it unattended!
