We all know the cost of weddings continues to soar.  However, one MIT bride put her tech saavy to use and printed normally costly wedding must-haves all on a 3-D printer!  She saved quite a bit of money, and you won't believe the results!

Erin Winick, who has a mechanical engineering background, decided to think outside the box when it came to planning her wedding.  She has owned a desktop 3-D printer for several years, so it was a logical process to combine the technology with her big day.  The printer works by melting down rolls of the plastic filament at high temps and extruding them into a pattern designed by a computer...think glue gun.  Layer by layer, it takes shape.  Erin used the 3-D printing option anywhere she could, as opposed to buying items.  She printed her headband, bouquets for herself and bridesmaids, table numbers and cake topper, decorations and even the flower girl's necklace.

By the way, her bouquet contains 200 flowers and glows in the dark!  Erin says in total, she spent only $75 on all the bouquets.  And, you have to see the Lego mini figures she printed for decorations, too!  I've definitely never heard of anything like this in the stuff of fairytales.  But, while the high tech/romance combo may not be for everyone, it's pretty amazing to see!  Good job, Erin!
