FINALLY Term Limits In Congress?

Normally, we completely avoid politics on our blogs. It’s just not worth the headaches, harsh words, and hurt feelings. That being said, I think this is something a HUGE majority…

Normally, we completely avoid politics on our blogs. It's just not worth the headaches, harsh words, and hurt feelings. That being said, I think this is something a HUGE majority will actually agree on.

However, I NEVER thought I'd live to see the day that these two words would even be uttered aloud in Washington, DC.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz and Republican Rep. Francis Rooney proposed a Constitutional amendment on yesterday that would impose term limits on members of both houses of Congress.

"For too long, members of Congress have abused their power and ignored the will of the American people," Cruz said. "Term limits on members of Congress offer a solution to the brokenness we see in Washington, D.C. It is long past time for Congress to hold itself accountable. I urge my colleagues to submit this constitutional amendment to the states for speedy ratification."

What is proposed is MORE than reasonable in my opinion: senators would be restricted to two, six-year terms, and House members to three, two-year terms. A similar amendment was proposed by Cruz in January of 2017.

Supposedly, the concept of term limits has gained traction in both parties. Don't get excited by that term. It probably means 10 people have spoken.

Also remember that to even think about amending the Constitution, it takes a 2/3 majority vote in both the House and the Senate. When was the last time 2/3 of Congress agreed on whether or not it was raining outside? And this? This is a vote to cut off their gravy train.

I'm afraid this is yet another example of something that the vast majority of the American people want, but our elected government officials will completely ignore in favor of their own wants and desires.
