The answer: it’s complicated.
The FDA stopped inspections at the start of the goverment shutdown. Scary…we know. As the government shutdown continues, many are asking should certain foods should be avoided, and the answer is complicated.
Food inspection resumed at the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday, but those that went back to work aren’t getting paid. Food safety attorney Bill Marler says he’d avoid, “anything you aren’t controlling yourself like pre-packaged sandwiches, ready-to-eat salads, or meals that aren’t cooked.” Some on the list include, leafy greens, ice cream and even cheese.
Staying away from some of these foods could prevent many of us from getting sick.
