Look, I'm a simple guy. As long as the economy is strong and my family is safe, I'm fairly tolerant of a lot from my politicians. Case in point, the current occupant of the White House. Do I support him? Yes, of course, he's the President of my country.
Do I approve of all he says and does. No, at times he makes me cringe with some of his petulant behavior. That being said, do I think he knows exactly what he's doing? Absolutely.
I can especially put up with a lot from someone who loves the game of golf as much as the President does. He doesn't just love it, he owns and maintains some of the nicest courses you'll play (Trump National Charlotte on Lake Norman is spectacular). However, I cannot tolerate someone who cheats at golf.
It is a sport of honor where you actually call penalties on yourself.
“To say ‘Donald Trump cheats’ is like saying ‘Michael Phelps swims,'” writes Rick Reilly in the new book “Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump” (Hachette Book Group), out Tuesday. “He cheats at the highest level. He cheats when people are watching and he cheats when they aren’t. He cheats whether you like it or not. He cheats because that’s how he plays golf … if you’re playing golf with him, he’s going to cheat.”
WOW! Reilly is an award-winning former columnist with Sports Illustrated who has actually played with Trump in the past. For the book, he spoke to dozens of players-pro and amateur-who told of some of the President's biggest "transgressions" on the golf course.
I've GOT to get him on for "Taking Dead Aim." ;)
