In what is being described as a suprise success, the controversial anti-abortion movie "Unplanned" made $6 million at the box office on its debut weekend and landing in 5th place.

This is the story of Abby Johnson (played by Ashley Bratcher-pictured above).  She left Planned Parenthood to become a pro-life activist after witnessing an abortion at 13 weeks.

The movie marks the second-highest start ever for faith-based distributor Pure Flix, the company behind "God Is Not Dead" and "The Case For Christ."

These films have a built in audience and do very well (in relation to their production budgets).  "Unplanned" opened up in 1,059 theaters and is expected to move into 1,700 more in theaters next weekend.
