LONDON, ENGLAND – JULY 21: A bee collects pollen from Ragwort in Ladywell Park on July 21, 2014 in London, England. Many insects can be seen emerging during the summer months in local urban parks in the heart of the capital. As flowers come in to full bloom, butterflies, moths, bees and other insects play a vital role in the food chain by pollinating plants, and providing a source of food for predators such as bats. The photos of the green haze went viral earlier this week.

Pollen was in the air. And well, all over. It was on cars, the ground, handrails, and basically any other surface you can think of.

It was an allergy sufferer's worst nightmare. Continual sneezing, terrible congestion, and the annoying itchy and watery eyes.

Thanks to photographer Jeremy Gilchrist, we were able to witness the severity of the "pollmageddon" that was hovering all around Durham.
