What is it about trains that make us stop and look every time one passes by? Is it their intimidating size? Their earth-shaking power? Or is it the familiar, and perhaps even comforting, rhythmic sounds they make as they roll on down the line?

May 4 & June 1: Roads n’ Rails
Aiken Visitors Center and Train Museum – Aiken, SC
Live music by Roads n’ Rails (Songs n’ Tales) with railroad songs and a little bit of country music on every first Saturday.
May 11: Train Day at the Depot
Hub City Railroad Museum – Spartanburg, SC
Celebrate National Train Day (5/11) at the museum with a Thomas & Friends layout, N-scale Train layout, and railroad motorcars. you can also watch trains on the NS mainline, take a trackless train ride, enjoy bounce houses and more.
May 18-19: Historic Spencer Shops Train Show
N.C. Transportation Museum – Spencer, NC
The Historic Spencer Shops Train Show will feature railroad memorabilia, model trains, and much more for sale. There will also be special train rides, tours and children’s activities. Museum members receive special benefits on this day, with special members-only tours and perks.
June 7-16: Day Out With Thomas
Tweetsie Railroad – Blowing Rock, NC
Ride along as Thomas the Tank Engine chugs his way through the NC Mountains. Kids can meet and take photos with Sir Topham Hatt, listen to Thomas & Friends storytelling, and enjoy activities in the Imagination Station. $50 for adults (age 13 and older), $32 for children (age 3-12), and free for ages two and under.
