“Scarlet Witch” Was Almost “The Khaleesi?”

I’ve always loved these stories.  Tales of actors and actresses reading for/trying out for parts that they don’t get, and become iconic for other people. For example, Matthew Broderick was…

“The journey that I’ve been on with Daenerys, it’s sharpened me as an actor, and because of the heights she goes to, it’s forced me to find them within myself,” Clarke told HBO. “And so anytime anything good or bad happens, you put it into her. So Daenerys is a tapestry of my entire adult life. Within each major scene of Daenerys is every major scene of my life.”

I've always loved these stories.  Tales of actors and actresses reading for/trying out for parts that they don't get, and become iconic for other people.

For example, Matthew Broderick was actually offered the rold of "Alex Keaton" on "Family Ties" but he didn't want to relocate to LA, so the role went to Michael J. Fox.  And the rest is history.

As Game Of Thrones has come to an end, it's impossible to think about "Daenerys aka The Khaleesi" and imagine ANYONE but Emilia Clarke in the role.

What would you say if I told you that "Scarlet Witch" from "The Avengers" movies, Elizabeth Olsen COULD have had the part!

Yeah, according to Olsen, she actually auditioned for to play Daenerys Targaryen on Game Of Thrones a very long time ago.

"It was the most awkward audition I’d ever had,” Olsen explained, saying she had to do the scene twice because “they” (Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, presumably) didn’t know if they wanted it in a British accent or not. Olsen did both, but admits now that it was “terrible,” and it’s the one example she always remembers whenever people talk about a “bad audition story.”

I wonder if Emilia Clarke would have read for "Scarlet Witch?"
