There are some songs that people botch the lyrics to ALL the time because they do not hear them correctly.  For example:

Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded By The Light" in chorus says, "Revved up like a Deuce, another runner in the night."  Even Bruce has joked that the entire world has thought he was singing about a feminine hygene product rather than a car.

Another is the "Bruce" line in Electric Light Orchestra's "Don't Bring Me Down."   Shoot, even this lyric video on YouTube states that the line is "Bruce."

Turns out the line isn't even "Bruce" but rather a vocal ad-lib made by singer Jeff Lynne saying "groose."
Lynne said he only kept the "groose" in after his German engineer asked him "how did you know that word?  Gruss.  It means 'greetings' in German."  Lynne decided "That's good.  I'll leave it in." and the rest is misheard lyrics history.
