There's a big part of me that wonders if this is the kind of gag that rich people play on each other. I mean, to a MUCH LESSER (and poorer) extent, my fraternity brothers and I will do it to this day.
In fact, just a couple of months ago, one of them came to town and we went to dinner. Before being seated, we went to the bar and he said, "Order what you want, it's on me."
I loved the look on his face when he settled the tab to find I'd ordered a $30 glass of bourbon.
CLASSIC.
Well, now David Spade has learned this lesson-the hard way-when it comes to buying dinner for Adam Sandler.
Seems recently, Spade learned that Adam was at the same fancy restaurant he was at, so he went up to him and gave off a few one-liners, or how David put it on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, “a few thirsty bits to get attention."
"Adam always buys me dinner," he continues. "He's a nice guy and his wallet [is] about 10 feet tall." So to return the favor Spade decided to pay for Adam Sandler’s dinner.
"The next day, Identity Guard calls me and says, 'someone stole your card,'" Spade says. "'There was some $9,000 dinner last night.' I go, 'that was me.'"
OOPS!
