Okay, I will admit to being totally partial and bias about this,  You see, the mascot above is from my alma mater, Baylor University, and the lady inside the lady bear costume, is my niece, Scarlett Smith.

She was the mascot at her high school for three years and then in spring before her freshman year at Baylor, tried out for, and made the "Marigold" (female bear mascot) team.

I say team because I bet you didn't know (because I sure didn't) that each one of these mascots is really a team of 3-6 people who rotate in and out of the costume during games/seasons.

And trust me when I tell you they go through the same regimines at the athletes in terms of training and practice.  It ain't an easy gig.

Anyway, Sports Illustrated has ranked the greatest mascots in college football.

  1.  Uga the bulldog from Georgia
  2.   The duck from Oregon
  3.   Mike The Tiger from LSU
  4.   BEVO the longhorn from Texas
  5.   The tree from Stanford

Officially, I'm cool with all of these except Stanford's tree.  I mean, is there a LAMER mascot than a tree?!

Puh-lease!
