There are just some things that happen in life that we just cannot fathom. At the very top of that list is a parent purposefully taking the life of their child.

32-year-old Joshua Lee Burgess has been charged with the murder of his 15-year-old daughter, Joshalyn Burgess of Monroe.
According to police, the teen was visiting her dad over the weekend.

He killed her, and then turned himself in to authorities.

Tony Underwood, Chief Communications Officer for the Union County Sherriff's Office, said, "This is just a case where it's pure evil. He readily admitted what had transpired."

The official cause of death will be released following an autopsy.

Some things are too awful for words.
