It has often been said, and I firmly believe, that music can magically transport you back to a place and time. We all have songs that the moment they come on, we're IMMEDIATELY taken back.
I didn't realize that movies could have this effect too, or at least I hadn't thought about it...until this morning.
In June of 1984, I was in heaven. I was having a great week as a participant at North Carolina Basketball School in Chapel Hill. On our lunch break one day, a friend of mine and I decided to eat movie food and take in the new, hot movie at the theater on Franklin Street.
"Ghostbusters" was easily one of the best movies my young teen self had ever seen. And I've loved it ever since.
Now, in celebration of the paranormal comedy’s 35th anniversary, Fathom Events is giving you the chance to get slimed again, for two nights only: Sunday, October 6 & Thursday, October 10. Upon reading this...I was that giddy kid from 1984 again.
We've done a couple of Fathom Events showings of movies and it's REALLY worth it. You'd be surprised how, when you've only seen a movie on television, it makes a huge difference.
For example, last summer, we saw "Jaws" for the first time on the big screen-AMAZING!
According to the press release: “This special 35th anniversary presentation of Ghostbusters will feature an introduction that reunites key members of the cast of this iconic film, sharing the memories of making a film that remains a cultural touchstone. The introduction will also include newly unearthed and rarely seen alternate takes from famous scenes.”
