This is kinda cool, although I imagine the girls are mortified.
Chris Gardner of the Hollywood Reporter posted some video from Malibu’s “Rock4EB!” fundraiser, which supports efforts to cure the disease epidermolysis bullosa.
This is was not some widely publicized event which I’m sure made it easer for Adam Sandler’s daughters Sadie (13) and Sunny (10) cover Taylor Swift’s “Lover” on stage while dad accompanied on guitar.
There are many, many highlights I recorded from tonight’s #Rock4EB but this one is pretty special. @AdamSandler handling guitar duties while his daughters Sunny & Sadie sing @taylorswift13 “Lover” in front of Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, etc. They’re major Swifties, and so good too pic.twitter.com/Z589j4tDBJ— Chris Gardner (@chrissgardner) October 7, 2019
The cover stays mostly true to the original, with the exception of the opening lyrics, which the duo changed.
“We could leave the Hanukkah lights up till January,” the girls sing, before receiving a standing ovation. “This is our place, we make the rules.” (The original lyrics mention Christmas lights.)
As cool as this is, something tells me the girls would be absolutely freaked out to know video of their performance was being shared all over social media-opening them up to the opinions of their friends.
Or maybe not.
I hope not. It takes guts to do something like that…especially at that age. And I think it’s great.
