Intern’s Corner With Olivia: Final Farewell
Welcome back to my corner! My name is Olivia Bucco, I am the Fall 2019 Digital Content Intern for Beasley Media Group. As I wrap up my tenth and final week with Beasley Media Group, I am eager to reflect on what I have learned in my time here as an intern.
While applying for this position, I was unaware of how big of an impact the experience ahead of me would leave on my life. I went into my interview with Alexis Zarycki, Digital Program Director, nervous and unsure of what my future looked like professionally. All I knew was that I was interested in creating content and having the freedom to be creative with it. When Alexis offered me the position, I remember how ecstatic I was to get the opportunity to prove myself in the business world.
Over the past few months, I have accomplished more than I ever imagined. Publishing nearly 30 articles/galleries across six different stations, created the company’s quarter-four content calendar and numerous quizzes from scratch. I also helped manage the social media accounts for all six stations, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Traveling off-site to gather content for various events and shadowing on-air talent were just some of the extraordinary experiences I have had with Beasley Media Group.

I had the opportunity to work with so many talented people in my time here. I would like to say a big thank you to Alexis Zarycki for being a great mentor, Mark Borja for being so helpful, Cameron Moore for inspiring me, Emalee Smith for teaching me, and the entire Charlotte office for welcoming me with open arms. They are responsible for my success, I would not have been able to do any of this without them.
From the start, I was extremely excited and my love for the position has continued to grow every day entering the office. Looking back at the first few articles I composed, to now, I can not believe how much I have grown creatively and as a journalist. This position constantly required stepping out of my comfort zone. The past ten weeks have been an absolute dream and I am in disbelief that my time here has to come to an end.
My Overall Perspective:
I learned that the most important turning points in a professional career come from the hardest times. I could not have imagined anything more from the Charlotte team. They helped guide me, critiqued me, and, most importantly, supported me throughout this amazing experience. I am much more confident in not only my content but myself as a person. I will forever cherish my time here and I am looking forward to seeing where I go next.
Thank you Charlotte Beasley Media Group for a phenomenal internship experience!
