It's not often this country girl gets out of her jeans but the CMA Awards gave me a chance to brush off the horse hair , curl my hair and look like a real girl;) We were there to work but the reward was heading off with a few friends and seeing the biggest stars in country music under one roof Wednesday night.
I loved the concept, paying homage to female country artists past and present. There were many highlights, one of which had nothing to do with any of the ladies. We loved seeing Luke Combs bring home the male vocalist of the year award and in case you missed it he paid his respects to the Charlotte skyline during his performance. We spoke to Kelsea Ballerini the day before the awards and she was nervous about her raw performance of "Homecoming Queen", she nailed it and even got a shout out from Garth during his entertainer of the year acceptance speech. I was rooting for her for female vocalist of the year, it went to Kacey Musgraves. In case you missed it we did not win for Major Market Radio Personalities of the year. Maybe the 5th nomination will be the charm. Never give up on those dreams!
But ya'll, hearing Dolly Parton in person is the closest thing on earth to hearing an angel sing. Her performance with Zack Williams and For King and Country gave me goosebumps.
