Behold, our family pooch.
It's an ironic joke in our house. When we bought our dog in the summer of 2006, our son named him "Frisky" and that little cockapoo totally lived up to his name...FOR YEARS.
Well, Frisky has lost some spring in his step after 13+ years and now, he's as frisky as a frozen hamburger meat.
Anyway, I've always heard that you compute a dog's age by multiplying his human age by 7. Apparently, this is not the way to do it.
Scientists at the University of California have come up with a complex formula for calculating a dog's precise age in human years. But thankfully there's a calculator.
The equation is 16 x ln(your dog's age in human years) + 31, with ln being the natural logarithm of the dog's real age. For the non-math inclined, that means 1-year-old Fido would celebrate his 31st human birthday. At 2, your doggo is 42.1 years old.
Huh (staring at my college degree on the wall, I'm lost)?
The dog’s age must be greater than one year, then that age is converted into a natural logarithm and that log is multiplied by 16, and then 31 added for a total. For example, if a dog is 14 years old, the natural log of 14 is 2.6390, multiplying that by 16 equals 42.224, adding 31 brings it to 73.2.
OH GOOD GAWD. Just click on this link below and punch it into the calculator provided!
