There is no telling how many of us have stared at the face on the boxes/jars of Gerber Baby Food and wondered about that child?

Who is she?

What did she grow up to be?

Was she real at all, or just a sketch?

Well, the baby that has graced the jars of Gerber baby food is indeed a real person.  A neighbor submitted an incomplete sketch of a baby in a 1928 contest that went on to become the iconic Gerber baby.

The Gerber baby is now 93 years old Ann Turner Cook

Incidentally, her identity of the Gerber baby was not known until the 1970's.  And before you think that being on a baby food jar was among her biggest accomplishements,  Ann said earning her master's degree after being a housewife for 13 years, her 29 year marriage and working her way up to become chairman of a high school English department top her list.
