CHICAGO, IL - SEPTEMBER 17: King, an Eastern black rhinoceros born August 26, makes his public debut at the Lincoln Park Zoo with his mother Kapuki on September 17, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois. King's father Maku, 27, is on breeding loan from Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, Texas and his mother, 8, is on loan from Brookfield Zoo in suburban Chicago. She weighed 100 pounds at birth and will get up to 5,500 pounds. The North Carolina Zoo has a brand new arrival and they are “over the moon” with the new southern white rhino. The rhino is the daughter of mother Kit and father Stormy, born at about 100 pounds. She is the third rhino born at the zoo in just under two years.

Mom Kit and proud poppa Stormy look on as their new baby girl takes her first steps.
