Charlie & Debbie

Weekdays 3:00PM - 7:00PM

As I was having to move my truck out of the driveway so our son could get to school today, he looked at me and said, “Big day today…otherwise I wouldn’t be here.  26 years…wow that’s a LONG time.”

No, it was just a moment ago.

I know what a long time is-trust me.  I spent four years in Birmingham, Alabama that felt like 4 decades.  When you are miserable, time stands still.

No, February 5, 1994 in Corsicana, Texas, was just a moment ago.

I remember breakfast that morning with my college friends as we descended upon, and took over the town diner to the chagrin and disdain of the the locals.    I also remember doing a final group, bachelor, tequila shot with them in the church nursery prior to walking out into the sanctuary.  It was the last time we were all together in one place.

And it was just a moment ago.

I remember seeing my Dad’s parents, and my Mother’s mother.  Smiles of pride, love and support were on their faces.  It was the last time I would see all of them alive, in the same place.

And it was just a moment ago.

I remember being so happily suprised to see old friends, teachers, and even an ex-girlfriend who made the trip up from Houston to be there-some of whom will be reading this today.  And I hope they know how much it meant to me to see them.

And it was just a moment ago.

I remember Mom and Dad.  They were so happy with the choice I had made for a wife (and honestly, probably relieved that somone had agreed to take me off their hands <g>).

And it was just a moment ago.

But what I remember most is that unbelievably beautiful, angel in white who made her way down the aisle to be with me.  I thought my heart was going to stop.  I couldn’t believe it then, I still don’t.

And it was just a moment ago.

And the reason why it feels that way?  That angel just walked into the room, if possible-more beautiful than that day 26 years before.

And it was just a moment ago.

If there’s one thing that’s been made apparent to me over the years, if you’re happy-truly happy-there is almost no sense of time.

I’ve been more than blessed.  I’ve had a lot to be happy about in my life.  But Baby, you are the reason that they’ve all been just a moment ago.

I made this a year ago.  It’s nothing but these moments…
