Don’t Be A Fool This April Fool’s
Look, I get it. Pranks are fun. And April 1st is “April Fool’s Day,” the Super Bowl of pranks. They can be funny, and God knows we love funny. Further, we’ve been a party to more than one elaborate scheme over the years on the radio.
Shoot, once, Debbie participated in a radio stunt that convinced an entire area of Central Texas that aliens had landed and were heading toward a town’s Dairy Queen.
AND THEY BOUGHT IT…hook, line, and sinker. There were t-shirts created and sold commemorating the event. So again, we’re not immune to the temptation or fun of April Fool’s Day.
BUT…this ain’t the year.
If thousands of people are dead and thousands more dying from a global pandemic, this is no time for pranks.
If more than 3 million people, MORE THAN DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION, are out of work in this country, this is no time for pranks. If people are quarantined, isolated from the love and support of family and friends because of this crisis, this is no time for pranks.
Maybe next year…HOPEFULLY next year will be better, brighter, and more back to the normal, we’re accustomed to. Then, a good prank and a laugh will be welcomed like never before.
BUT…this ain’t the year.
We’re not in the mood.
