I’m a rare Kenny Chesney fan. I like songs of his that have nothing to do with sexy tractors, or beaches, or rum drinks.
To be honest, I really don’t have a recollection for liking anything he does that is “up tempo.”
No, I like it when he sings from the heart. Songs like “Old Blue Chair,” “What I Need To Do,” “Boston,” “The Woman With You,” “There Goes My Life,” “The Good Stuff,” “You Save Me,” etc., THESE are the Kenny Chesney songs that play over and over on my playlist.
There’s a new entry to this list that is on his new, forthcoming CD, “Here and Now.” He released it for download and streaming last week.
If you’ve ever had that relationship that was wild and electric…so much so that you knew it was only for a good time and not a long time…this one is for you, and me.
But God we were so alive
I was a kid on a carnival ride
Holdin’ my breath till the moment
When you were gonna leave me too soon
But I’d do it all over,
‘Cause damn it was good knowing you
