It is the time of the year when you are most likely to see the sweetest of wildlife creatures.  Is there anything cuter than a fawn.  No, not much.

Last week we spotted a fawn at our home and Cpt Jim has seen many of them. When you first spot them you think they have been abandoned.  They have not.  The mothers will usually place them in a camouflaged area and away from predators so that she can forage for food without having a little one in tow.

Thousands of healthy fawns are captured each summer because people think the mother has left them to fend for themselves.  This leads to many of the babies dying because no one can replace the love and care of their mom. So as cute as they are and as alone as they seem to leave them alone. The Mom will most likely return in 12 hours or less.
