12,500 to 1.  Those are the odds (computed by Golf Digest) of an amateur golfer making a hole-in-one.  I've had four and been witness to twelve others.  I've know MANY people who play golf on a regular basis, and have their whole lives, and have never had one.

One of the great things about a hole-in-one in golf is when it happens, your opponent(s) is just as excited for you as you are...and it's DOUBLY so if the person you are playing with is a close friend...or brother.

Which takes me to yesterday morning.  I was playing golf with my friend, Jeff.  This is no surprise, we play just about every weekend, and have for a long, long, time.  For many years, we were joined by our boys.

Now, that's a most-of-the-time thing, but not always.  Anyway, we've raised our boys together, vacationed with our families together, and been through just about everything  you can go through in life with one another.  To call him a friend, is not altogether honest.  I never had a brother.

Jeff is my brother.

So yesterday morning, on the 16th hole, I got to watch my brother drop a 7-iron from 175 yards, onto the green, two hops, and in the hole.

I wasn't able to capture the shot (I mean, who films EVERY shot other than network TV?!), but I was able to capture the moment of retrieval.

How cool is that?!  Oh, and traditionally the person who makes the hole-in-one buys drinks at the end of the round, which is great because he was beating me and I was going to have to buy!
