Quietly yesterday afternoon, the news came through that director, Joel Schumacher, has passed away (after a long battle with cancer) at the age of 80.

A lot of times when directors die, because for the most part they are off-camera and therefore not nearly as famous as the stars they direct, the breadth of their work is often unappreciated.

Not today.

Here's a list of just a few of the classics from the 1980s and 1990s that Joel Schumacher gifted to us:

"St. Elmo's Fire"

"Flatliners"

"Lost Boys"

"Falling Down"

"The Client"

"A Time To Kill"

and my personal fave (cuz I'm a "Bat" freak), "Batman Forever"

RIP Joel Schumacher.  Thanks for the hours of entertainment spent in a theater and in front of my TV.  You were an amazing talent.
