We started hearing about this yesterday. A movement is afoot in Anderson, SC to have a statue for the now late, Chadwick Boseman (an Anderson native son) replace a controversial Confederate monument in front of the city’s courthouse.
A petition on Change.org has already received some 11,000 signatures, but it’s going to take a lot more than that. Statue removal requires 2/3 vote of the SC State Legislature.
BUT, mayor Terence Roberts has confirmed the city IS already hard at work (an artist has been contacted) on the best, permanent, way to honor the actor who so bravely lost his battle with colon cancer last week.
