2020 Getting Better…With 1980s Cereal!

Once upon a time, there was a little boy growing up in Houston, Texas, who would religiously watch “Saturday Morning Cartoons” on ABC, CBS, and NBC.  Yes, believe it or…

Craving A Taste Of Nostalgia: Cocoa Puffs, Trix, Golden Grahams and Cookie Crisp Return To Their Roots Maybe this is what 2020 needs. General Mills is bringing back the "classic" cereal recipes from the 80's for Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Cookie Crisp, and Golden Grahams. They're calling it "the ultimate taste comeback", although the cereal maker won't say specifically what ingredients had changed. To go along with the cereal relaunch, Saved By The Bell's Mario Lopez is also hosting "The Ultimate Saturday Morning Drive-In" on October 3. You can join him virtually to watch all kinds of classic Saturday morning cartoons. What was your favorite cereal to go with your favorite Saturday morning cartoon?

Once upon a time, there was a little boy growing up in Houston, Texas, who would religiously watch "Saturday Morning Cartoons" on ABC, CBS, and NBC.  Yes, believe it or not, this used to be a thing (before and in the early days of cable TV).

Anyway, the advertising that DOMINATED during that time was breakfast cereals.  In fact, mom would let me pick one cereal a week to get when she went to the store and I would choose based on who had the best commercial.

Off the top of my head, there was "Trix" ("Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!")

"Cocoa Puffs" ("I'm Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs")

And "Cookie Crisp" ("Your cookies stay crispy in milk!")

Well, in a year where everything sucks, these legends are coming back.  Along with Golden Grahams (why they are in the list, I do not know!  No kid EVER wanted these), General Mills is bringing back the classic recipes from the 1980s for these legendary kids' cereals.

They're calling it "the ultimate taste comeback", although the cereal maker won't say specifically what ingredients had changed. Not that I keep up with such things, but honestly, I had no idea the recipes had changed, did you?
