Get Ready For Deviled Egg Day

What's your favorite brand of eggs to buy at the grocery store? Is it Nest Fresh eggs? I like-em because they're humane and sustainable eggs, plus when you're trying to rid yourself of GMO's, this is the egg to crack, and it's with great pleasure to announce Deviled Egg Day coming to us on November 2nd.  Deviled eggs are kind of like potato salad and collard greens, because we all grew up with certain family recipes. What tricks and tips can you offer up that you do to your deviled egg recipe? My girlfriend is keen on adding mustard to relish and mayo for the base. I like dill relish, but sweet relish seems to give my eggs a kick. Did you know you can use duck eggs to make deviled eggs instead of eggs from our beloved chicken? Adding bacon is one of my tricks, but adding sundried tomatoes is another added bonus.

Some tips to great deviled eggs: Try poking a small hole in the bottom of each egg before boiling. Using a pushpin from the office desk because they say it works best, rather than using any other sharp object because you can puncture the membrane around the egg. Are you as puzzled as I am? Well, evidently how it works is: water floods the space between the shell and the membrane, and then dissolves the membrane, making the egg much easier to peel. Besides the mayo and mustard, how else do you season your deviled eggs so they don't taste bland? Salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika or something else like heavy cream to give it a rich flavor?
