One of our favorite artists from back in the day, Jo Dee Messina! We have been thinking about her a lot  lately.   She charted six number one singles, including her very first one from 1996 that mentions an area near and dear to our hearts , "Heads Carolina, Tails California" written by Phil Vassar.  And she came to Charlotte for a visit to perform for us at our "Family Reunion".

When she performed for us back in the 90s, she was electric.  With her red hair and throaty powerful vocals we just could not take our eyes off her.  Plus she was a real sweetheart, kind to us and more importantly, so kind and generous with her time for our listeners.

We haven't heard from Jo Dee lately.  She was diagnosed with cancer back in 2017 and had to take a step back from performing for awhile. From the health scare came some life changes, she says it brought her closer to God.   To catch up with how Jo Dee is doing, check out a story about her in

Catherine Lane is the morning show co-host and midday host on Country 1037 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has been with the station for the past 24 years and is a recipient of the Academy of Country Music Major Market Personality of the Year award.
