Charlie & Debbie

Weekdays 3:00PM - 7:00PM

I’ve written here many times before about how 1977 was one of the most important years of my life.  That summer, “Star Wars” came out and seeing that movie changed everything for me.

Science fiction and fantasy became obsessions for this 7-year-old boy and luckily television was all too happy to play into my desires.

In 1978, “Battlestar Galactica” came on ABC and in 1979 “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” arrived on Friday nights on NBC.

The original was a pulp fiction and serial character from the 30s-50s.  This revival starred Gil Gerard as a 20th Century astronaut who had his life support systems aboard his space shuttle frozen on a deep space mission and wasn’t found/revived for 500 years later.

It only last a couple of years, but I loved it (as you can tell by the the above pic, I own the entire series).  However, since then, the rights to the character have been tied up in legal disputes and courts.

Apparently, all of that has been resolved as “Buck Rogers” is BACK!  A new movie, TV show, and anime are all being developed.

Sign me up…and how bout a Gil Gerard cameo?

Legendary is Developing a Buck Rogers Revival For Film and TV

It's been almost four decades since the classic sci-fi/pulp hero, Buck Rogers, appeared in live-action. But that may soon change. According to The Wrap, Transformers producer Don Murphy and Legendary Entertainment are teaming up for a Buck Rogers revival.
