Metal detecting is a big thing.  I live on a little farm in the middle of a large centuries old farm.  My neighbor hits the woods every now and then with his metal detector hoping to find something cool from the past.  That dream came true for one North Carolina man.

He along with a friend went on a metal detecting trip up in Maine and they found something very rare.  They came across a penny that was one of the first minted in American money, it is 222 years old.

Shane Houston says the penny has the date 1798 on it and he knew he found something special. It wasn't in the greatest condition as you would expect but it would bring Shane around $200 dollars.  But he says he isn't selling.  He and his friend also found an entire wagon wheel  and another old coin.
