A federal lawsuit has been filed after a 3rd grader in Mississippi was forbidden from wearing a face mask with the words "Jesus Loves me" on it. And that has a lot of people angry.
The principal of the school insisted the little girl take off the mask and find another one. The school then issued a statement saying they ban any mask that displays religious or political statements that some might consider offensive.
They are being sued for violation of first amendment rights.
This story really stood out to me because when I was going home from work yesterday I stopped along the way to get some lunch for me and my family. Everyone in the restaurant was wearing masks representing something I question. This didn't offend me or make me uncomfortable. I just thought it was cool that they were allowed to express themselves.
