There may be no celebrity that I respect more than Michael J Fox.  In the eighties and early nineties, there was no one whose career was riding higher.

He'd had hits on TV ("Family Ties" and "Spin City"), and movies?  Hello?!  Anyone ever heard of a little trilogy called, "Back to the Future?"

Anyway, at his apex, MJF was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's disease-basically ending his career.  Most people would have taken this hard, become bitter, disappeared into dark places, or worse.  Most people are not Michael J Fox.  He's served as a positive inspiration for everyone who suffers from that disease, modeling levels of positivity and philanthropy that are to be heralded by everyone.

Anyway, just when you thought, "Well, he's faced the worst and stared it in the face," you read a story like this.

Apparently in 2018, a tumor was detected on Fox’s spine.   Although non-cancerous, it was still growing at a quick rate and causing horrible pain throughout his body. “I was heading for paralysis if I didn’t get it operated on,” Fox, 59, tells PEOPLE.

So...just get it operated on.  Wait, this surgery was not run-of-the-mill.  According to Fox, the tumor “was constricting the [spinal] cord, so they had to be very careful in removing it so they wouldn’t do further damage.”

The surgery was successful, BUT THEN came his "darkest moment."  The full story below is amazing, and just makes me love and admire this guy more.
