There's an old saying that goes, "You can take the boy out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the boy." I agree there are certain things in my DNA from my home state that cannot be erased. For example, I could live in boots and jeans every day and be happy. I am annoyed by people who wear straw hats in the winter and felt in the summer. And I am an absolute junkie for Tex-Mex.
Don't be confused, not all Mexican food is Tex-Mex. The biggest difference (to me) is the grilling aspect and the wood used in doing it. Mesquite grilled chicken and beef fajitas have a flavor that is incomparable and once you've tasted it, you can never go back.
Which brings me to the best news we got last week. Superica is a FANTASTIC Tex-Mex joint on Worthington in uptown. And that's the problem. As with anything in that area, parking sucks and therefore limits my enthusiasm for the pursuit of my jones. Plus, as we only work in uptown, but live in Union County, getting friends to make a special trip is a difficult thing and we love to share cool dining experiences like this.
Well, problem solved as Superica is about to open a new location in Strawberry Hill in Matthews. If you don't ever believe anything else from us, believe that this place is worth a visit if you've never tasted their fare before.
