Daring Horse Rescue In York County, South Carolina
That rain Thursday morning! My husband drove me in to work yesterday because we heard there would be torrential rain right around the time I normally drive home from the radio station. Even though he retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol he just can’t stop serving and protecting. ( Now, it’s just his family and not the entire state:) When we got home our neighbors were trying to pull their truck out of the mud, it had literally sunk in about six inches. With a tractor’s help, they got it out. That problem paled in comparison to what some of our friends were experiencing.
My riding buddy Michelle Shephard had big problems. Her entire pasture was under water and there was about six inches of water in her hay barn. Luckily her horses were fine and on higher ground but one of her neighbors wasn’t quite so lucky. His horse Saint got stuck in the rising waters. Saint is just fine but the waters were rising and he needed to get out of there.
Saint belongs to Mark who is the instructor for the York County Mounted Posse Search and Rescue team. He is a very important horse and is specially trained to help locate and help people in need in York County.
