Buddy is actually performance artist Jonothon Lyons spending these days perched on seats in in the NY subway
Lyons, a native of Arizona who moved to New York 15 years ago, He is shocked that the sight of a man in a rat costume doesn’t phase most people.
He says “Most New Yorkers are totally indifferent, though he added that some people do get excited and occasionally scared when Buddy appears."
