The father of one of my son's best friends is a high ranking officer with CMPD. He told me not long ago that the scariest words he can hear are Beatties Ford Road.

It does seem that an abundance of violent crime in our city emanates from that vicinity. Perhaps the most violent in recent memory was from the Juneteenth Celebration Street party on June 22. Brett Jenson is a former co-worker who now reports for WBT. Here is what he wrote on his Facebook page yesterday

"This incredible video is from the June 22 shootout on Beatties Ford Rd. There were more than 400 people there. It shows what an assault rifle (can do) and now you can see why 181 shell casings were found at the scene. Cops are having a very hard time getting witnesses to come forward."

The last sentence and the video below is what I can't get out of my mind. "It feels like Charlotte is slowly becoming the city everyone moved here to get away from."
